"The Fall of 55" is an Idaho story told by Idahoans. These are just
some of the local people involved in the project.
SETH RANDAL – PRODUCER/WRITER/DIRECTOR
Seth Randal is a bold and enterprising young filmmaker. He grew up in
a working-class neighborhood in Idaho, but also lived briefly in
Washington State and Alaska. He calls Boise home.
Seth is a born storyteller, with more than a decade's worth of
experience in print and broadcast journalism. He is drawn to dramatic
and emotional stories. One of his previous projects includes a series
of in-depth stories about an abandoned and derelict teacher's college
in Albion, Idaho. "I wanted to tell the story through the eyes of the
people who cared about the campus. So I interviewed a number of
former students, who are now in their 80s. They expressed feelings of
heartbreak and powerlessness in watching the buildings crumble before
their eyes."
In "The Fall of '55," Seth uses varied and diverse viewpoints to paint
a broader picture of the 1955 morals prosecutions. "I didn't simply
set out to 're-hash' or re-try these cases," he said. "Instead, I
wanted to know more about what it was like to live in Boise at the
time. I wanted to understand what caused the prosecutions to grow to
be so widespread. And I wanted to learn about ongoing consequences – to share the stories of the people whose lives continue to be touched
by these events."
"The Fall of '55" is Seth's first full-length documentary.
